What is a Read & Ride-A-Thon?

Our Read and Ride-A-Thon is a bike ride bonanza to help raise awareness and funds for children in our local area. Three of KPA’s lucky teachers will be cycling a 530 mile journey from Broadstairs in Kent, all the way to Lands End in Cornwall!

Our cyclists will set off in Viking Bay on the 29th July, and cycle along the south coast, stopping off at a number of destinations on the way to read a wide range of reading materials. They aim to arrive in Bournemouth on 1st August, where you can meet and greet them, showing them support along the way! Finally – weather and health permitting – they will arrive in Lands End on the 8th August.

Read & Ride-A-Thon objectives

First and foremost, through a range of fun and engaging fundraising activities, we aim to promote reading and exercising for children in our local area – and beyond!

Our secondary aim is to raise enough money to support King’s Park Academy’s library and sports facilities, giving them a much needed refurbishment, exciting children at KPA to become regular readers and fitness fanatics!

How can you support us?

By encouraging your children to love books – to read a wealth of stories, fairytales and adventure books – you will be helping us to achieve our primary aim! Take your children to their local library, hunt around for a new and exciting author to get your child engaged! Perhaps you could even cycle there, or take your child’s scooter and walk or scoot through your local park. We want our children to love exercising again!
